Ok Since my Valve covers are going to have to come off. I was wondering if I get klze cams ( ie racier more aggressive cams) I will get some power benefit from it but not as much as if I retuned the car and reprogrammed the ecu or got a j spec ecu right?

not sure what the j spec ecu will do for your car? one good thing i can think of is their higher quality fuel, it will force you to use hi octane here in australia but you will get an advantage from ignition timing adavance. How much of an increase im not sure, i mean the factory ecu will advance timing (within a limited range) if better fuel is used anywayz, so im just unclear on the other benefits of the jspec.. im sure there are some however...

reprogramming the ecu can be done with a reprogrammable chip, it will cost a pretty penny but will be well worth it if you have other modz to compliment. However on a stock car the ecu's cant be beaten no matter how much you throw into them, factory ecu's have millions of dollars in R&D and are of course purpose built. So in sort you only need a new ecu or reprogrammable option if your state of tune has been so severly effected by modifications that its not running to its highest potential... for example some wild cams.. you will notice an increase with wild cams up high in the rev range but down low the car can very well be less powerful... however with the right ecu modz you can correct the lower end response and maximise the gains from the sweet spot of the gains...

if you keep the sotkc motor you will need an easy $3000 for an upgrade that simple not use in going aobut it loosly do it right do it once.
If here was not such a different in the ZE I would say Custom cams head work matched with intake matched and either a chip or Unichip to get the best.
I can't remember muhc on the ZE over 03 motor's but i know comp difference is in the psitons.
I say leave the comp lower better for reliability.
Get soem Ze head's /top end get it done with porting ETC with ECU mod easy improvement.

If I owned one. I woudl proberly get a ZE worked before I put it in bu I would jsut turbo with my 1 option with no added ZE stuff. As ZE motor is just made for top end. I know they are said ot be flat torque curve but, I stil think it woudl suffer evn along side a 03 in terms of drivablility reason it was never sold anywhere else. Don't say fuel either becuase alot of hondas and now mazda's are using 10:1 comp standard.
It's all on what the market wants. a V6 that needs too mcuh reving is not a seller ot the general public.
A useable V6 is
