no turbos here in aus will bolt up to our manifold unforuntately, there is something in america that matches update (a t-bird or something) but thats only a tiny increase anyway.
So you only have basically two options, custom setup or a high-flow. A high flow isnt too bad, you can get a substantial increase over the stock compressor wheel but if your after more than say 220 - 250hp then a custom setup is the only way.
as far as custom is concerned you can opt for a set of adaptor plates so that your selected turbo can interface with the stock exhaust manifold and stock dump pipe. Really if you choose to do this then your better off upgrading your exhaust system and just get 1 adaptor plate for the stock exhaust manifold, the gains will be significantly higher.
alternatively you can get a fully custom exhaust header and upgrade your dump pipe, cat, and rest of the exhaust, will set you back around 2000 - 2500 excluding the price of the turbo.
ultimately you have to ask yourself how much power you want
hth

| well i was talking to a guy at garret turbotechnics he said for 1800 including labour he can give me a full change over to a g280 bb turbo giving me like 180kw I just think that with that much power Im gonna have to replce everything else (cooler, transmisson and stuff) so at this stage depending on the cost of the reco and hi flow it looks like ill be gettin that. What u guys think? |

so that would be two adaptor plate utilising the stock dump pipe and exhaust manifold then?
the price sounds about right then, only problem is that with an upgraded turbo you will definately need some form of fuel and ignition management, also you will definately need an upgrade fuel pump, i have a walbro 255hp which is ample for 350 hp, the stocker would be probably maxing out on just a little boost increase depending on condition..
also injectors will be maxing out at around 160-70kw's, you will need to source some rx7 550cc injectors high ohm's version, they bolt right in...
cooler is important but not as much as the above |
