Had a compression test bout 6months ago when I came back to Brisbane and it seemed to be fine. If you don't mind me asking, how much for your intercooler and piping?

cooler cost me 350 , and the piping i did myself, if you have the money i would get sum1 else to do it , its a bitch tryin to work out bends etc , but i wasn;t willing to pay 500bux for piping so i did it myself with a bit of trial and error but now its all good.

Sweet. Thats pretty cheap. I dont think I'm confident enough to fit an intercooler myself, when I learn a bit more maybe. With your ah timer....is you car central locking with the alarm?

hi just wondering how much boost a stock sized IHI turbo can take??? i have one on my TX5 same model as yours but it looks pretty small, to give ya a size just a bit smaller than an M24 garrett turbo or there abouts.

anways how much more power would i get from high this turbo i have???

cheers

Hi Grebs, I believe stock they only boost 5-7psi, although with a boost tap, I wouldn't recommend over 12.

i would have to agree on that , unless u chip ur ecu or get an aftermarket comp and change fuel settings etc. when i had mine on 12psi it was still pretty good , ive got a couple of mates that have vl-turbos etc and their running nearly 20psi but they have unlimited supply of cash to keep rebuilding engines and they can afford to pay for fuel every couple of days , i run mine on bout 15-16psi daily and its pretty good , if i thrash it pretty hard it drinks like a 5litre but if i only thrash it now and again its pretty good on fuel.

thanx MRtrbo for that,

umm i did put another question below that one but i forgot to put "flow" after high..lol huh.gif
so i guess it made no sense only just realised now. lol
anways i was wondering if i highflow my turbo how much more boost could i run through it??its a the stock one (IHI) dont no the model number or anything like that cos of all the pipes and whatnot.

Im thinking of gettin a new chip for the car. its from powerchip.com. the gold 98 chip for like just under $700 it shows pretty good performance and i think its tunable. if u know of any better than this but the same price let me no.

cheers

hiflow turbo you cant really run more boost on just gives you a lil more power mines hi flowed..and I can notice a power difference overstock all be it not that much..Im upgrading to a t3 or td04 shortly so wont be on the standard turbo much longer anyways smile.gif

ah k kool mite not actually high flow it then if there isnt much to gain from cos its costs a shyte load. lol

i was also wondering cos my TX5 just randomly cut out just after i started it.. blink.gif
a few weeks ago and then i tried starting it up tried to accelerate and nuttin happened, it idled for like 2 seconds then just died..
after that didnt start anymore sad.gif

ive gotten my cuz who's a mechanic to chek it out, so far we have established the fuel pump works, the fuel filter isnt blocked, the lines seem fine, there is spark and but seems like no fuel is gettin to the engine.????????

im puzzled cos it worked fine just a couple hours before hand, i only gave it a bit of a rinse on the gearbox sump cos it had all oil and almost got pulled over by cops that day so i wasnt takin a risk.. lol shouldnt have washed it!!! but i made sure not to touch anything electrical while i washed it..

so if u have anyclue let me no
cheers

Have you checked for any vacum leeks, maybe from the airflow meter.

just check u didn;t get any water on the dizzy or get an airblower and blow around the dizzy and other electrical components.Vacumn leaks can cause it to idle for a few seconds and then turn off and if the airflow meter is not plugged in properly it will idle for a split second.

umm, i actually changed the dizzy cap after the car didnt work cos it was worn out and yes the other one was wet inside a bit.

As for vacuum leaks ill have to check onto that, but so far it seems like the fuel pump isnt gettin any power to it. im going through all the wiring trying to find fuses or sumtin thats shortin out.

Does anybody no where i can get a workshop manual like a mcgregory (called sumtin like that icon4.gif lol) manual for this model TX5? ive searched but can only find up 87 models and that doesnt include the turbo's in them sad.gif

cheers
