Yeah mate its just made out of mdf and screwed into the plastic on either side of were the existing shelf used to be. I did it that way cause mdf was easy to work with and I could get it cut for the 6x9's quite easily. Its also good cause it mean I could staple the wires up underneath the shelf to keep em out the way. After I built it I just brought some cheapo carpet just to make it look a lil better and deaden the vibration a lil.

Jus quickly, are any of you TX5 Turbo guys from anywhere around the Dandenong area? because im looking to sell my n/a AT2 TX5 and buy an AT2 TX5 Turbo, and there's one for sale for $4,999 which i saw in Auto Supermarket Magazine. Its in Hammond Rd in Dandenong, and cos i live in Geelong it's a bit of a hike. I was wondering if any of you guys would be able to check it out for me if possible if you're passing by at any stage. The ad reads:

"FORD TX5 2 HATCH 1988. White, turbo, turbo timer, manual, air conditioning, alarm, alloy wheels, central locking, cruise control, electric mirrors and windows, cloth interior, power steering, radio/cassette, like new. $4,999"

It sounds pretty good to me but it doesnt say how many k's or anthing like that. If anyone at all would possibly be able to help me with the above request it would be really appreciated biggrin.gif

really? howcome i'd be able to fit a bigger turbo on mine than on the TX Turbo? i thought the n/a and turbo motors were basically the same, jus one had a different manifold and the like...

with that said zorb, i was jus wondering how i'd go about turboing mine. i figure that it'd be expensive to go whereever id need to go and say "here, turbo this!" is that right? would it be cheaper to find all the parts i need at wreckers and stuff and then take it to a specialist and ask them to turbo it for me?

if it's not too much hastle, and if u know what im asking, could you plz gimme a list of what im gonna need (parts wise) in order to turbo mine?

hehe if i turbo mine, then my mate will shut his 'anything that's not at least a 6cyl has no balls, buy a commodore' ass when i kill his VS at the lights biggrin.gif laugh.gif

i jus realised that it'll b even quicker again cos of the work my current one has already had done on the head. with the mods ive already dont to it seems like it'd be better jus 2 turbo it, it'd save me some money cos if i sold mine and bought teh turbo version i'd have 2 redo my current mods.

does anyone know the figures of the stock tx5 turbo 89-91 model (kw, nm, 400mtr time etc)

if u do wott zorb is saying the manifold for a new turbo will cost between $800-$1500 depending on who does maybe more, add a turbo another $1-2000, intercooler $400, piping $800 then labour, plus if u want to go anywhere a standard turbo gearbox from a wrecker is around $1500,coz the non turbo ones will blow in no time, then u still have the prob of the engine. the non turbo blocks have weaker pistons rods, and plus the compression ratio's are diff so if u just slap a turbo on u'll prob have be slower that a normal tx5 turbo.

dont quote me on this but i think the N'A TX5 put out around 89kw and do around a 17-18sec Q/M. the TX5 T's put out 110kw and do a 14sec Q/M .but again dont quote me on that
