Hey Guys,

After the HLA clean out, valve cover gasket replacement and valve colour powder coating got done i started her up and everything seem to run smooth and nicely so i was wrapped, i mean.. i didnt kill the car! cool.gif

Anywayz before i touched a thing i noticed once when i went for a quick thrash around the block i popped the bonnet and unscrewed the oil filler cap only to find a considerable amount on white smoke coming out crying.gif well now after all the work i've done its continued, not too severly but if you cover the hole and let the smoke accumulate for a bit then leave it open surely enough you can see a lil white smoke comin out again... also the car seems to hesitate a little more when i remove the cover...

so wat does this mean? I've heard that this is due to a lack of compression, will get myself a compression tester later on this week and check out that possibility, is there anything else that could result in this?

oh man.. how depressing sad.gif

Yes it's a turbocharged FE3, (soon on the bottle) and NO you can't drive it
WARNING: Does not play well with others (it seems others have a problem with losing)

ermm.gif So sorry dude, looks like you better roll up your sleeves and start spending some doh. If your head gasket is sealing true, you've got a crack somewhere (white smoke). No compression? No easy way out. You have just re-joined the ranks of the "hoofin'-it" patrol.
The increased hesitation when you remove the cover is coming from the crankcase ventilation sucking air through the open hose to the intake (instead of through the airflow meter). Stuff a PCV into it.

yeah does sound like a crack

there is a cheap way ot find out go to a good merchanic and se if he can test the radiator fluid for any CO2 in the water this will show a blow head.

On the other hand you must remember these motor are sealed unit and you may have sprung a leak in a line ETc and this my explain the rough runing. As for whaite smoke What did you use to clean the HLA's plus try an oil change might help out

thanks for the replies guys smile.gif

ok still havent got the compression tested since more important things have came up.. atm this really is a minor issue for me since i was in an accident just yesterday sad.gif

the white smoke from the valve cover seems to be diminishing but its still there to a degree, you can only notice it very slightly. Coolant levels dont seem to be dropping but i must say since i bought the car i have been getting droplets of black liquid out of my exhaust when i start the thing in the morning, and also the exhaust does smell like burning chemicals which, from what i've read, suggest i may have an issue with my head gasket sad.gif

rod i used just wd40 and clean oil, i have since done an oil change and now the smoke isnt even really noticiable, as a matter of fact last time i checked i wasnt sure if it was coming out of the valve cover or somewhere else, could only see the dim mist looking from side on...

hmmmm might have to put these concerns on hold in any event sad.gif

sounds like moisture from the WD40

don't worry my car lets out lots of black from the exhaust should see the rear of garage door one black mark and a half
Same goes for the wagon Yep but it lets out clean moisture. It's okay it's nothig major. As these turbo cars run a little rich and strong you get a build up and the moisture joins up with the black bits and come out black. Even my car does it, my whole drive way on the right hand side has a black spray from the garage to the car port.

I think it wil lbe okay. as for chemical smells sounds standard. having worked with a lot of blow heads these don't sound like standard issues.
The only way I have been proven is with CO2 test and compression test.
Of course there is the other one no coolant or water and oil mixed in radiator or sump KNOWN as MILKSHAKES ( doesn't taste too good but crying.gif )

lol yeah i've witnessed "milkshakes" on an old piaza i saw at a car dealership... checked the oil and theres the reason for teh 1000 dollar price tag...

i think i might have some form of leak in my coolant resivour, will have to check it out since the levels been going down a bit lately..
