Yes it works. I know, cause I have done it. I installed a couple months ago tokico illuminas (5-way adjustables) and a set of coilovers for a 2nd gen on my car.
1. Q: What does it take to put 2nd gen suspension on my 1st gen mx6? A: The proper tools for doing suspension work along with a grinder (grinder is optional)
2. Q: What do I have to do to make the front fit?
A: Nothing.....it ALL bolts into place.
3. Q: What do I have to do to make the back fit?
A: Well, you have 2 options. 1. You can spread (on the strut) where the strut mounts to the car 1/8" *note: this may take a while and is a real PITA! 2. You can do it the way I did and grind (on the car) where the strut mounts, down about 1/8" and the rest will just bolt into place.
This was made to give people who can't get coilovers for their 1st gen a couple of options suspension wise. As we all know, there are a TON more strut/spring combos to buy for a 2nd gen than there are for a 1st gen.
Hope this helps.
*note to stupid people: If you don't have the proper tools for doing this job, DON"T DO IT! Either get the proper tools or take it somewhere to have it done. It is not my problem if you injure/kill yourself cause you are too dumb/lazy to do it correctly, it's your own damn fault.

nice disclaimer red
hell yeah there are heaps more options out their for second genner's, thanks for the valuable input, will be checking out both options when i settle my suspension woe's..
any 2nd gen owners here in Oz have any idea on the availability of coilovers or spring/shock packages by any chance? I know for the 1st gen we can get a set of king springs (not superlow ) and peddlers shocks but thats about it.. anything else has to be custom... fully! |
