no, a turbo car isn't complete without one. I have a lot of fun with mine....I spool up, get next to someone with their window down, and let off.......LOL.....most of the time they jump out of their seats.

Yes it's a turbocharged FE3, (soon on the bottle) and NO you can't drive it
WARNING: Does not play well with others (it seems others have a problem with losing)

i've got a type 1 turbosmart (budget) bov installed on mine, was playing with the spring tension the other day to alter the noise a bit, got more of a fluttering noise now... i know its not doing my turbo any good tho sad.gif

hmmm might change it back ohmy.gif

essentially the louder it is the worse it work's, too bad i like mine loud icon4.gif

Quick question - All you guys with aftermarket BOV's, dont you have trouble with backfiring. I had a povo type one on mine, used to idle fine, but damn did it used to backfire. I could drive along at 60, bring up at 1psi back off and it sounded like someone shooting. Not to mention what it would do at full boost. People reported seeing flames coming out my exhaust!
I think my AFM is phuckered!

90TX5- Thought i heard your car sneezing the other day out near the uni, wasnt sure if it was yours or not that is all.

OK with the stock setup on a 1st gen mx6, your air is metered right after your filter.....now when you let off the gas, the air you are venting to the atmosphere via your BOV has already been metered and the injectors are dumping fuel for the air that isn't there now. This causes a rich condition and will most of the time backfire.

Yes redneckmx6, I am very aware of that. It just seems that my car suffers from it a lot more than everyone elses.
Should have made that a little bit more clear.

Mine did it between every shift and sometimes while playing around in traffic. with that kind of setup on the stock motor........just what happens I guess

not with a chip... you need a complete aftermarket ecu or at least a fuel computer...

my car seems to backfire quite frequently at around 3k or so, no so much after gear changes but still does occasionally.. will upgrade to one of those hybrid bov's in the future.. there the shit! biggrin.gif

I'm running one of the turbosmart type 3 hybrid bov's, It's not plumbed back anymore and the car barley backfires at all. If you play with the settings it doesnt really affect the car at all anymore. But my tuner has the car running rich because I run up to 18+ psi of boost

Does anyone use a GFB or just recirc? I've heard that recirc'd BOV's still make the fun whooshing sound. Can anyone speak from experience?

Well it depends with the Plumb backs.

I've used 5 different BOV's on my car.

From Factroy stock just modded air-box made some noise
BOV vented lots of noise, but not enoguh tension meant it went rich, my car never back fired.

I've had a Blitz super sonic nice then aI had a turbosmart Type 2 alright but still even when tight was a bit rich on lift off.

Now I use a unknown Race type BOV plumbed back. it's quite large has and entry about size of a type two and similar exit size.

I' know people with GFB with both stelth and the original one with both plumb-bakc and noise. On the Mx-6 I think personally the stealth is better ans you can put enoguh air-back into the system, the other works to stop back-firing but does not do enough to stop it running rich on the gear change. Tryed it on a Tx-3 B6T and it had this problem, Whe nthe stealth came out GFB swapped it over was about a 2 week wait, it was the best, in street use it's great no rich no back-fire, and on vented we allow just enough to go back in and great to drive hard noise is okay too.

Just a note on Auto cars Back-fire won't occur as often or as hard with a Vented BOv it it's tensioned right but manuals will depend on the drivers gear changes.
