I drive a '90 325i. The engine is a 2.5L I6 with a compression ratio of 8.8:1. I have to use California gas, which is 91 octane. Anyway, here's my question: I need a medium size turbo for a custom install, but I can't figure out which turbo to use. I want it to be able to produce up to 12psi, but also not be laggy as hell. I already have most everything else figured out, this is the only thing bugging me. Thanks for your help.

Well I would say a Garret GT28 series or one of the HKS version. But a Factory Garrett GT2830 should do. but personally i would go fro a GT30 Ball bearing sized turbo. I know of one on a 323i BMW goes reall good but uses masive boost up ward of 16psi.
You would really need to get things matched up.

I'm not questioning your ability to suggest turbo sizes Roadhog but i'd recommend using a smaller turbo like a GT25 with a .82 exhaust. The GT25 will easily produce 12psi and won't suffer anywhere near the lag that a GT30 will have, also keep in mind the 91 octane fuel and the highish comp (8.8:1). Just try to keep things realistic and you'll have a well balanced engine/turbo setup.
Hope this helps

OH yeah I would go GT25 as well

it's just as I said for me I love maximum boost and big turbo's. but there is notihng liek a perfectly sized turbo on any motor to provide little lag and the right amount of boost
