hey mate
just like any turbo car really, they respond well to the usually induction mods and a bit of boost, you will be limited to 11-12psi as after that the stock ecu's fuel cut will be activated. With the stock turbo being so small and the stock intercooler being fairly restrictive anything above this pressure will be pointless. The turbo will start generating a charge which is simply just too hot for the IC to handle at above 12psi, and the stock IC will create a massive pressure drop when you start reaching 14psi which of course will just cause the turbo to run a higher pressure...
some very obvious points:
- make sure you alwayz use high octance unleaded as you will gain 8kw's from the extra RON (ecu's are tuned for this fuel even though we are in AUS )
- completely service the car, run some decent injector cleaner through, change the fuel filter and use some decent semi-synthetic oil (mobil S works well for me)
- run a diag test on the ecu and ensure there are no error codes, o2 sensor will probably need to be changed..

hey guys i just bought my first car an mx6 turbo 1988 model and well i guess you can say i bought a lemon! when the car arrived to my amazement there was no o2sensor the engine leaked there was a hole in the exhaust a sparkplug was cross threaded, the head gasket was cracked (my fault) and to conserve fuel the ecu wires had all been cut so the engine was run as a carby it was really bad hey!
it is currently at the mechanics and will be there for five weeks but when it does come out i intend to really make this car run a little bit faster so can you please tell me what you think i should do to it as the car is stock! whatever you guys recommend being owners yourselves i will follow that path!
cheers guys pome |
