I have been in contact with a company that may make a stock replacement hood for the MX6 biggrin.gif Just a plain ol' regular hood but made of fiberglass. There is a thread on mx6.com about this in the 1st gen appearance section. Don't know if you Aust. guys would be wanting to ship a hood across the big pond, but any US people please post in the thread if you are interested.

great stuff.. just out of interest how much does the fibreglass version weigh or how much lighter could we expect it to wieght? there's definately some performance to gain in lightening some panels on the mx6, the hood alone is amazingly heavy!

Well it depends on two things
weight is for grip but it also holds you back in weight you have to pull

On a FWD drag car they generally use Wheelly bars for leverage and that keeps the frotn end down.
On a street car body weight helps the car gain grip but, in the ned it's all about the drivers right foot an being able to judge it.
Even in a RWd car with BIG HP you have to be able to get it to the gorund, with out reling on devices like traction control and the like.
Once any car has grip it's ammter of keeping that grip an excelerating as quickly as possible. NOTE: Manual cars chirpping gears does not mean faster times.

I think a light weight fibreglass bonnet with vents would be a big aid both in cooling and just the added less weight. Mine has factory metal and filler and 2 coats on top factory paint, so anything lighter would be nice.
