what you guys think?
post what you think or crap on and on.
which one of these hot mammas would win in a street race, not a drag but a real street race. one with corners and turns long straights and more turns.

Why ask a simple question?

To answer that properly think of the cars? What modifications do they posess? how are they set up? you say for a street race but how are there suspension setups tuned? how are the cars tuned? are they caged? are they restricted to boost levels? there are many factors to consider and depending on what is set for this supposed street reace depends on who would win... So in effect in a street race between these two fine cars i could comfortably say to you that both the rotor and the VL would win.... set up a situation if you only want one car to win....

Chill out

well, if they were both stock rx7 would piss all over the vl (even a turbo calais). they are pretty much unbeatable around a corner and are pretty damn quick in a straight line!

vl's are pretty dodgey unless done up a fair bit...yet rx7's are good from factory.

I thin this whole topic is stupid. I am sorry but it is. I am new to this forum. But really a real street race? I come from a back ground of hot cars and hot rodding. And rule one is. If you think you have a hot car then dont say a word about how good it is until to go to the track and get a time slip. Drag strip or curcit. Any thing else is just a wank. U heard all the bullshit under the sun about street racers and cars that can do this and that. but for some reason they never get a time slip. Personaly if some one came up along side me at the lights and then flicked up a time card out their window which was quicker then my own then they have already won. The street is for cruising and making some noice if not the chance skid here and there for some fun. But "real street racing" as you have described dosen't happen all that much between real tuff cars and if they did then I would say what a pack of wankers. I am not going to tell you that I havn't had the odd squirt from the lights with a mate for a bit of fun but full on racing just dont word on the street. And lets just say for arguements sake that such a race did take place between these two cars. you havn't as mentioned by others what has been done to them and if stock with the right options I take it. lets see.

A pussy ass stock VL 5 speed turbo 3 litre or 5 litre 4 speed. you see you haven't made it clear. There are many different types of VL in stock form. not to mention stock Brock and Walky's. So I guess it would have to be thebest optioned stock vehicle which I guess would be a Director Brock for arguments sake. So that is a 5.0 litre (they did have optinal strokers too.) making about 300 to 320 BHP through a 5 speed Getrag BOX and BW LSD rear end with 308:1 or 345:1 ratio. A weight of about 1500 to 1550 kgs. Vs. a RX7 mazda rotory (this is what I mean there is no mention of what model or year of type of RX7? so i do again the best of the options in the stock range. which I think at the time during the VL era was a bathurst speical perhaps? I am not sure of the models they had then. But still basicly a twin rotor motor with 5 speed gear box with a basic weight about 1250 to 1320 kgs and around 200 to 240 BHP. Personly I think the cars are too different to match up like this. Ones a sports sedan and one is a sports car. But a brock as used in this example would come about even with a RX7 of their day and would come down to the drivers ability. Next time to throw this kind of crap at people give a little more info on the question. As you said we could crap on and on. I dont mean to be mean but this kind of shit really pisses me off. Street racing is for wankers with no real cred. I dont care if it has 100hp or 1000 hp if you dont have the time slip then as far as I am concerned it just another slow want a be.

Well, I cant. Sad but true. Because I am still building it and sorting it out. Got to get them reliable before anything else.

I am hoping for low high 11's. The car had a slip for 12.1 years ago in the previous owner. but since I have owned it, I have had to fix a lot of problems with heating and transmition problems also related to heat. So my main goal for the moment is getting it reliable on the street enough so I can cruise around town on a week end basicly. Then when I am happy with that I'll get some slicks and fuel and head for the track and see what I can do. But I wont know until I get there or course.

But all of this ha to wait due to the always ever probelm of lack of money plus some other projects and shit.

out of intrest do you have a modified car?

I am not really into the small capacity turbo cars but, cool I guess. TX5, just to make sure. Thats a Ford Laser model of some sort isn't it from the mid 90's? Hope it turns out for ya.

I only asked because I was interested. I like talking to fellow car people. Get an idea of what people are doing with their cars.

You hoping to race this car of yours or do you just want a every day car out of it with a bit more go?

Yeah smile.gif Im aiming for somethin I can run those v8's with..Yeah the tx5 was a telstar and was kinda looked at as the lasers bigger brother..my particular car is a 1991 model. Im hoping for somewhere around 180kw's at the wheels by the time im finished...Im goin to pay off the car and keep it as an on going project and after completing all engine work Im am goin to go for appereance (im aiming to have it in autosalon within the next 3-4 years) if all goes well...
