Im wondering am I the only one that thinks you should be fined for driving too slow?
Yesterday after a crappy day at work I was stuck behind a slow driver. The speed limit clearly
indicated 60 and they drove 40-45 sometimes down to 35. They proceeded to develop a long line behind them, including me.
I eventually got so pissed off I overtook them. So what do you think? What should be done about slow drivers?

If you're in California, there is a law that says you have to pull over if there is more than 5 cars behind you. I've only seen it enforced once on a two lane mountain road. It was a big 40ft moving rig. There was traffic backed up more than a half-mile behind it! CHP got him. EVERYONE honked and applauded as they passed!
There are also signs on the freeway that say "Slower Traffic Keep Right". None of the yuppie dumb-asses pay attention to it. mad.gif

Actually I have more of a problem with tailgaters. You know the kind of people where you see them pull out behind you in the distance, you watch them pull closer and closer until finally they are in your back seat when you are already going well over the speed limit. dry.gif Or if you are the first car behind a slow driver but the car behind you somehow thinks getting on your ass is going to make things move faster. wacko.gif

A slow driver doesn't get to me so much. I'll either sit back and chill or sit back until I can pass. Maybe I'm just getting old.

I know what you mean tha'ts where music relaxes me plus not shocks

Having no licence keeps you sane too when drivieng.

but funny thing when people try to over take I kill them or try too.

In my area if you see a hotted up car or any car with young people going slo don't over take you may piss the worng person off.

one guy in Holden SS VX tryed me in my area over took double white lines main road , I was driving my mates car, stopped at set of lights where, well
5 guys 2 on the street and out of my car 3 pulled out wheel braces and tryed to start undong his wheel nuts
brand new SS VX
No joke I was just driving because I had my licence, the Guy grabbed his phone but left his window open, one of these guys asks about his phone did he want to sell it. (found this out latter )
befroe you know it the guy hits the gas and hits car going across the intersection causeing an accident.
Made the local paper then we just disapeared.
Mind you Like I said to the cops talk to the owner of the car I dont' know who they were which was so true, becuase they didn't even call me by my name, even when we were in police station.
Guess what to he got charged with dangerous driving. I got NOTHING, Just Keep away from people like these guys.
The other Guys I dont' know fines I think.

Cops were laughing at the guy but, laugh.gif

2Rusty: Old is good. It means that you haven't done something really stupid to be removed from the gene pool wink.gif . Tailgaters? I let them go. They will spring the radar trap, not me.

Roadhog: You've gotta change neighborhoods man! We've got bad ones here in Southern California too. Their names are Watts, Compton, East L.A., N. Long Beach, Ocean Beach. This is the land of the drive-by shooting... I hear 'ya, and I understand.

slow drivers god they can get to me sometimes ohmy.gif it seems to me that ppl driving really slow on single laned road have a higher tendency to cause more accidents then someone doing the speed limit since they usually get taken over a number of times on the same stretch of road...

For some reason i alwayz thought coppers had the power to pull over someone who is driving too slow, maybe it falls under some form of susicious driving or something. I dont think if anything should legally be done against such drivers if its 10 or so kays under but if we are talking 40 in a 60 then definately something has to be done to prevent it...

as far as ppl not staying on the left (or right for you yanks smile.gif) lane when driving slow on freeways i have to experience it 5 times a week since i travel along hume hwy to get to uni. Its something that really should be advertised more.

I gave up driving a car when the troops started coming back in large numbers. I work at a very LARGE Marine base - the commuting traffic came back with them. huh.gif If you look at a map of So. California, Camp Pendleton is the very large "empty space" between San Clemente and San Diego. Driving a motorcycle on the freeway is dicy, but it all pays off at the off-ramp (the one that's backed up a quarter mile before it actually starts). Lane splitting is legal in this state. When the traffic gets too bad, I take the back way home. A little further, but if I see three cars, that's traffic! It goes through a two lane canyon that most people don't know about (yet).

When i lived in England "sunday drivers" were the worst.. goin 10 mph through winding country lanes with no chance to overtake for miles! rolleyes.gif but hey in Darwin there is no such thing us a sunday driver and sure as hell no winding roads! so if someone is goin slow.... just move over to one of the many free lanes and shoot on down the highway! all 1 of them lol laugh.gif
with regards tailgaters, they don't usually bother me unless its a 4wd with spottys shinin straight in the car! they are juat a danger to themselves... i find a quick tap on the brake usually gets them movin back...... or an old classic, soon as you pull over at some lights or somethin with them still behind! Get your mates and yourself to open all the doors and step one foot out! they usually freak out! i know i would! w00t.gif

MSGT-R : I should change where I live

too many people I know or other think they live in Compton & are 2Pac.

Mind you it works for me, Cops moved out afte they shot up the police station so now, I can speed in my area with out getting booked, but it's like any time I leave my area I get either followed or booked or the best one just Random breath test. I got that one at 9AM in North Sydney on Friday morning.

FAKE XU1 as for people getting out of cars

Don't do that in my area, Last time that happen in my area a bunch of guys from I think a local football match (different area but =more beachy area) thought they could win against one small guy over him cutting them off, only thing is he pulled a gun. Lucky no one go dead. just hospital for some of them and I think Jail for the gun guy. but proberly not long enough like 55 years

There's some kind of law in the UK against having a queue behind you and not pulling over. It's called "convoying" or something similar. But no one ever seems to get pulled for it!

As for me, caravans! I can't stand the damned things. On most busy A roads in the UK on a weekend in summer there are dozens of them and they're just too long to pass safely in the overtaking places you get, so you end up having to sit behind them. And they're nearly always going the same way as you!

MSGT-R: i alwayz take the long way over a traffic intensive way.. since i enjoy driving much i dont have a problem with the extra kays... but just sitting in traffic sends me nuts!

fake when we hit 50 the roads will be full of sunday drivers due to our aged population...er.. hopefully they have sorted the traffic problem by them ohmy.gif
