| Dodge Viper SRT-10 for around 79 000 US dollars does 3.9 and a high 11 sec 1/4 mile as well, not limited to 25 and can walk into any dodge dealership and order one. |

bout time australia bought something as potent as a 11sec car out... gives us ppl in the modded scene something to aspire to
US$79, 000 seems like a fairly decent price but one of dem aussie built holden's seems like a pretty good damn alternative |

| QUOTE (ausgt-r @ Nov 3 2002, 03:09 PM) | 25 are being built and are already sold...at a very inflated price of $200 000.
As far as performance goes, not just 1/4 mile times, the corvettes have it all over any performance car australia has to offer, end of argument. If you do still want to argue, i'll throw the name Dodge Viper in . |
Quote from HSV site: HSV Retailers will lodge order enquiries on HSV – already 30 firm orders have been placed with substantial deposits paid. A reserved Build Number enquiry may also be taken at this time.
No firm commitment on volumes or estimated retail pricing is being given at this point in time. We are suggesting however that our Business Case planning would require volumes in the order of 50 units for Australia and New Zealand plus a likely RRP in excess of $200,000 for the program to be considered for production.
Ok correction. It hasn't been approved for production yet. However it is very likely. Also more than "25" as you stated, will be built. (Im eating my humble pie ok:) )
All I wanted to say in this thread is that, this is a good car. Which it is. And now I know you can get faster "aftermarket enhanced corvettes" in America. Anyway all the cars we are talking about are within tenths of a second of each other.
I just think its great that Australia can come up with a car like this, and also the monaro, when GM in America has cut the camaro and firebird from production. Just think of it, we have 20 million people and the USA has nearly 300 million, what gives with that?

Emission standards over in the US of A, just like in japan where nissan had to stop production of their Silvia's (200sx in aus) and the awesome GT-R because they won't meet the new emission standards.
My orginal post was in response to Rodhog's post saying that any HSV can beat GM's cars and any FPV can beat any us built ford, which is far from the truth.
Anyways, they are both dinasours that can't even compete with a little 2.6l I6 TT GT-R

Great post but im going back to the original said word of PRODUCTION
i was under the impression that its not a production vehicle as such but a high end collectors option with HSV making only 50
apparently they are the closest to touring car performance you can legally have on Australian roads
