The Auto in my '89 AT TX5 Turbo has been getting progressively worse. Completely slips when changing up gears under power (usually 2nd to 3rd).
The car is quite drivable but a pain and could be dangerous when you go to overtake etc, and it suddenly free revs.
I understand it requires a complete build or replace.
Auto was fixed at around 100km's. Don't think they did it properly. Car has done 220km's. Have been quoted upwards of $2k for change-over.
Only used to get to/from work, mainly freeway. And only want to get another 20-30km's out of the beautiful old girl, so a cheap fix is all she'll get, or sell her altogether.
Hope someone can help.
Please reply or PM me.
