garrett has a website i had a few weeks back, thing is thou they didnt had many specs on their turbs on it ... just basically presenting their company, production process and lotsa blah ... ill see if i can find it again
The good thing about the T3/4s they are cheap 2nd handers and compared to others cheap to rebuild as they are quite common
-------------------- WHOHOO ... got my opens today ... as much as it would matter to me anyway ... and 96 in the ash tray! |

cheers yeah i seen one in the paper second hand and they are fairly cheap, what would be needed to set one up on a 6?
obviously u would need either an adapter plate welded on to the original exhaust manifold or a complete new one and an exhaust system, would ya need an ECU maybe Microtech or something??
any ideas
cheers ZOP

there are so many varients of the t3/t4 turbo its hard to know exactly what your getting. You can get one made to suit your application but first you best decide how far you want to go with your six and how you want the car to behave on full trottle.
If your after a mild upgrade and are searching for around say 200 - 250hp then a t28 turbo from a skyline will be a cheap advance (tech wise) option. If your after a little more then i would probably be looking at either a turbo from a vf series (i have a vf22) or a nice gt28. In any event any more than 300hp is going to be expensive on our F2T motors not to mention the troubles we will have with traction.
Any upgraded turbo with require at least 2 adaptor plate, however i strongly advise that you actually replace that tiny dump pipe we have with at the very least a 2.5 inch mandrel system, preferably 3inch.
as far as fueling and ignition is concerned you will need to do some modifying if you wish to raise boost above 11.999psi as fuel cut is activated by the factory ecu at this stage. depending on what turbo you get you can get away with just a larger fuel pump, rising rate fuel pressure regulator and some modz to your vaf.
If you after a decent gain then consider a chiptorque chip (or any chip company that will tune your car in real time) it will give tuners the ability to adjust the factory fuel and ignition maps which will maximise gains and efficiency.
best of all if you have the money get a complete aftermarket ecu |
