Hi all. My little car has developed a really annoying squeak in the front right brake pad which doesn't seem to want to go away. It does it more as the brakes get warmer and you can also feel it in the pedal (ie: you can feel the brakes binding more strongly in rhythm with the squeaks).
I had a look at it with my old man (who knows considerably more about these things than I do!) and after a lot of peering, fiddling and messing, put everything back and said something along the lines of

Anyone got any hints, tips or suggestions I might try?
Cheers,

when you inspected the brakes what were the condition of the discs, were they smooth or semi-warpped (had grooves)?
could also be part of the suspension, since its old those links that hold up the front swaybar would definately be on their way out, if you havent replaced them yet you should, u'll notice a great improvement in handling.. i've heard on massive differences in cars just 10 years old |

next time around get the ondition of the rotor and brak checked out. see if teh rotor is warped or has developed grooves, or if teh brake pad is badly worn or just unevenly worn ... most common reasons for squeaky brakes ...

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll have another good look when I'm back next weekend. (I don't keep the car in London -- pointless! Too much traffic!)
Everything's pretty new as the car was restored about 5 years ago and it had a full service as a part of the sale at a reputable Lotus dealer... hmmmmm. I'll report back!
Thanks again.
