Hey guys I'm new to this forum but I live in Moorhead MN and drive a 1989 mx6. Not much done to it but I have alot of plans.
Had a couple of Q's:
Why when I'm under a heavy load boosting does the car beep and shut down?
At spool up I hit 15 pounds then it creeps back down to 12pounds. What would cause that?
What is a good fuel management system for my car?
Help on this would be greatly appriciated! Thanks!

| MAte tahts you hitting boost cut..ya cant boost the standrad engine above 12-13psi without a stand alone computer or a fcd.its a built in safety car thats help to prevent detonation of the car.basically you really shouldnt be running above 12psi on the standard engines without one of these. The boost changing would also ahve to do with this I believe..... as 12psi is about maximum the car ecu allows you to run this can increase with heavy revs but will evntually cycle back down to the maximum. So yeah i'd turn ya boost controller or whatever ya running down a tad cause if the comp dont shut down quick enough you can still risk detonation. |

What fuel management system do u suggest using?
Does that fuel cut thingy mean its knocking or just overboosting?(Air/Fuel gauge says I'm running rich) |

IT just occurs when its overboosting.Mine does it also no big deal..but apparently there is a danger of the ecu not cutting out in time causing detanation...however this is unlikely...For a fuel amnagement system Im not sure you've got one of 3 options really....
1. An Aftermarket Ecu-Fullc ontolr of ya car absically (not sure excaclty the specs) 2. A Fuel Cut Defender..Probably the cheapest option (it basically block the ecu's signal to shut down the comp but also ensures that more fuel is being used to avoid detonation). 3. Some sort of chip here in Australia we have Woo's ecu mod that fixes the problem..i think you'd have soemthin over there aswell...Check in mx6.com forums there really helpful. |
