First up, glad to see theres someone else who loves the lil bricks. Highly likely that I will be doing one up as a project, most likely to be an 850 that just happens to be laying around home, its got an 1100 thats pretty tired, and its had deluxe doors and grill stuck in, and when it was bought it was incredibly low, but that doesnt worry me, they arent hard to raise. The original doors and grill are perfect and WILL be going on.

Secondly...there isnt a secondary, but I certainly hope this part of the forum gets lively hehe

Sounds like you have a fair bit of work ahead of you
but is all worth it in the end
The car itself sounds pretty good, probably alot better than most. If you want to get it back to standard and make it an original 850, it isnt that hard, find a good set of doors that have the sliding windows, a proper grille (although the cooper style grille looks mean on the 850). Are u going for performance at all? 1100 is good but ive heared (yet to experience) that 850 engines love to rev!
Im currently restoring a 1965 morris mini 850 panel van that will be a show/use every day car. check my website for pics etc..

Yeah, I havent driven an 850 motor, my brothers 998 revs like mad concidering its age.
The sliding window doors are stored safely in Dads shed, and the 850 grille has recently cleaned up and re-chromed for dads mini but decided not to use it, so I have that.....it looks bloody nice.
It seems like a huge amount of work but its not really, dad is apanel beater/spray painter by trade, and mini enthusiats in Tasmania are a really tight knit group and always willing to help out. The only major problem at the moment is the fact its got about 4 coats of different colour on it, the top colour being the porcelin green colour, and while its a lil badly done on hte roof it looks nice from a distance...straight body though, with no rust, thats a bloody good start!!
good luck with the van too
