I have a 83' Pontiac Grand Prix that i recently put 16x8 Goodyear Eagle #1 Nascar logo tires on. The stock tire/rim is 15x7 i believe and im having bottoming out issues. At dips in the road my tires scrape the wheel well. I live in GA so at the bottom of hills, if i dont brake..my car bottoms and sometimes jerks the tire. Also sharp turns when reversing scrapes some also but not as big of an issue and can be controlled. Im curious to what I should do about this. I was told by mechanics that i can do the following:
a) get custom coil springs with a 1.5 - 2 inch raise.
put spring isolaters on. c) hub spacers to extend tire out some.
Im not sure what would be the best move, I'd rather handle this problem now then it putting additional wear on tires and knocking my car out of allignment even more. I guess my questions are:
1) Which is the best springs to put on? (maybe stiffer) 2) Is 2 inch lift needed with custom springs or just new springs like Moog etc.? |
