You might as well get the professional setup since its made for handeling in the first place. Cutting springs is worthless.

I would definently not cut my springs, why would you want a car that
bounces all over the place? I had to spend a good $1300 for
EIBACH Pro Kit Lowering springs and Tokico blues, BUT I've seen on
www.probetalk.com and www.mx6.com, tokico blues for cheap and eibach springs for cheap also. So I suggest saving and purchasing suspension parts on bulk buys, thats if your going to do the work yourself. Just
to let you know, I hear Tokico Blues are the best suspension setup you
can purchase for a mx6 and also Eibach pro kit lowering springs.
Secondly, I would go on ebay and purchase a front/rear strut bar,
which runs a good $20-40 and then save for a rear sway bar from
www.shox.com. The rear sway bar ran $129.99 and after shipping, came
to $161 but damn there shipping is expensive, but way way better than
paying $200++ for a mazda speed sway bar, and sh$@ try a front sway bar, $213 from corksport.com OR directly from Mazda Speed for $400!!! mad.gif

Well I hope this helps biggrin.gif

im all for straight line performance, i know its sad but the car handles the power well enough in a straight line laugh.gif

when i fit a new turbo and all the other bits that will be required when that mod is done i will upgrade the handling next... mainly just for traction tho so it will improve once again my straight line performance tongue.gif

heh try chopped springs, that'll really slow you down. If you had a stiff suspension, then when you peal out the car wont bottom out in the back, which puts more power to the wheels in the front.

Eh? Whats cut springs? In the mini it was easier...just file the trumpets or a slight hacksaw onto them.....Dad made his own hi-lo adjustable suspension for his mini.
As for mine, it should (all going to plan) be getting a full Koni height adjustable set up when I go back to Tasmania

I run both, MX6 has blown my mind away with what a well set up FWD can do in the twisty department, and the little ford is starting to get a bit dangerous with its cut king springs(they dont do anything) and cut bumpstops to give a little bit of compliance, but she looks sick on her belly!!!!

Cut springs are dangerous what so ever.

The length and the stiffness of a spring rely on each other. For example if u cut a spring it wont have the same stiffness as the a same sized professionally produced spring, as they use different alloy components in order to reduce the travel inflicted by weakened stiffness. Cutting of any sort of a spring makes the spring weak alltogether, not only the cutting areas, but also the rest off the spring. I think u all know that metal weakens when heated and cooled off again, the same thing happens here. That for starters. second of all cut springs tend to sack over time more then STD springs or pro shortened springs, which might cause rubbing tyres agains parts in the wheel arch. And i hope u all also know what happens when tyres explode!
Besides the fact its a illegal it is highly dangerous! I hope i will not come across anyone with cut springs who caused an accident because of that! I have seen disasterous accidents caused by non pressional cut springs and they mostly end up ugly, especially when ppl get injured or even killed.

There is a reason that there are aftermarket lowered springs sold!
