i read heaps of magazines and they all seem 2 reckon that top mount is a big no no if u want extra horses in the paddock due 2 the heat generated by the motor and turbo.also i think with the wrx they get away with it a bit coz they got the bonnet scoop to deal with the heat and as tx5 doesnt i dont wanna put wrx like snorkel.......hmmmm well i got plenty of time to think as i got 4 and a half yrs til i get licence back anyway

air con wasn;t working so i thought fuk it , took out the hoses , left the aircon in their for the belts etc ,took condencer out and reciever out and left me with heaps of room.i'll post new pics soon i changed my piping on cooler and now it fits nicely , only had to modify bumper brackets alil bit and with bumper on looks stealth.
just wanted to know do all tx5's heat up alot ? i just changed my thermo and it doesn;t go past the normal mark , but its fukin hot as when i lift bonnet , i know a few guys keep their fans going 24/7 to cool engine bay down.

just added 2 thermo fans where my condencer use to be , makes a bit of noise but fuk it cools the radiator and turbo down , connected to a switch in cab, i was told its best to switch them on only when idle at the lights, also they do draw shit loads of power from the battery.pics will be up soon.

with my 87 tx5 its got the cylinder airbox , so i cut a 3in hole in the bottom and bought sum pvc pipe and joined it on and thats it.gets heaps of cold air , with my new tx5 i did what most of the guys have dun , which is run a 3in flexy pipe to the front of the car , made a huge difference as the factory air intake is very restrictive.

Need some help dude. Temp is running fine (just under half) but these engines pack some heat under there and I was wondering, would you suggest and extra thermo fan.
Giving that my turbo is only small, I don't see the need for a bigger intercooler.
It may even be the flow through the radiator, I'm going to give it a flush this weekend, any particular brand of coolant that would keep her cooler maybe? blink.gif

how old is ya thermostat ? if the cars dun a few kms i would change it , have the car running and take the thermo switch off and see if the fans kickin in , what you could do is put an extra fan on the front and have a switch like what i have dun it works really well.but i was told that our cars heat up heaps but personally i would feel alot better with mine cooler.

Thermostat shat itself back in Sydney when I was living there 2 years ago. So it should be alright. The fan definately runs. As you said you feel safer having it run a bit cooler.
My friend says you should check the intercooler every couple of years you know make sure its free of shit, is that right?

take off 1 of your hoses to check for excessive oil passing through ,its normal to have a lil bit of oil go through cooler hoses but alot means turbocharger seals , and it mite be worth doing a compression test just to be safe . i bought my car with just on 190,000kms so i did a compression test, it puts your mind at ease.
