tell us your tricks
i know on cordia's you can bend the wastegate slightly for extra boost
or on most turbo's rip the actuator hose off for full boost ohmy.gif
also on charade turbo's you pull the air filter out for that fullon blowoff valve sound, make sure you use a stocking or somethin to stop foreign objects entering ur turbo(this is not good trust me wink.gif )

a couple free mods for those tightarse racers-good for the teenies hehe

A couple to help

cable ties on Factory boost hoses to keep hoses tight and stop hoses expanding
washing out the fins of your Intercooler to keep the air flow good

Removal of restrictions such as mech and plastics, will get more air on to the surface of the intercooler. A good trick for 200SX's and Skylines

Correct thermosat for your car, Most cars have a Hot and Cold. For cars that operate in different areas. Live in QLD run the colder setting live in VIC/TAS run the Hotter one. In Sydney I run the colder one I have it closed almost on a cold night but keeps it's temp down when hot in summer. Also run good clean fluid helps heaps

A clean car is a fast car. It's amazing how many car have dirt trapped in places. Not only does it help lighten the car a bit, it stops rust.
Look where your drain holes go and pull plastic panel covers off to see.
I found All sorts of dirt leaves and sticks inside my panels.

Heat sheilding, be it and extra bit of metal to stop heat getting into the return pipe or covering the whole return pipe in fibreglass warp.
On a N/A car covering extractors in heatwrap the wright way and adding a heat sheild will help it heaps.

DE- carbon your car Intake can be done with a bit of Carbby /Throtle body cleaner
exhaust a thrash it and then stick a hose up the rear then rev it's tits off to remove carbon build up

good tips rod smile.gif

i will never trust any can of carby cleaner again, i cleaned my carby with one of these on my first car, VH commodore SLX, car seemed to respond good to the treatment and damn the carby was sparkling clean... only problem was 1 week laterly the car stalled and i never a carby overhaul mad.gif

my 2nd car was a fiat twin cam (74kw, 130nm) quite a fun lil car, anywayz carby was dirty again.. thought that my first experience with the carb cleaner was a result of using some cheapo product so i went off and bought some top of the line and only sprayed a minimal amount.. week later another overhaul lol jesus.. sometimes i never learn laugh.gif

I didnt see any cable ties on your intercooler pipping rod! think i might give that a try.. might have to go get some industrial massive ones that are about half an inch wide tho...

btw.. wheres the thermo adjustment on our cars.. i've got nfi.. didnt even score the manual when i bought it sad.gif my car is alwayz on half temp wise.. just about every other mx6 i've seen is on the same cept for the occasional one which has had the thermostat replaced with a cooler one.

Well I have never had a problem with carby cleaner or TB cleaner in my life time. Sounds like you either used it incorrectly or the problme was just somthing bigger. I use it all the time on my TB ne ver had a problem. We have used it on all our crap boxes me mates buy. The VH one I have seen the same problem and it's got nothing to do with Carby cleaner other thne the fact it just helpped if come along.
Alot of places use the stuff even dealers but if used incorrectly can cause problems I know.
I use to have the cable ties on them. Then I tryed to use some free heat tape I had. That has not been good and I now plan on either replacment metal pipes or just new Hoses. I have not made up my mind yet.
I did use it on my ET, when I had it becuase me and my mate in which we sort of owned togeather used radiator hose to hook up the intercooler for it.
It does work I can't explain why but your hoses last longer too ours did, from 3 days to 3 months.

As for the thermostat, you just replace it. It's sits in behind the metal cover where your top hose connects. Just go to Robbos or the like a look for the correct gasket thne look for the thermostat, They should have a number that will fit. Funny thing for me was I went to Mazda they gave me the original setup for the US-spec car don't how it was slightly different made for the parking heater set-up car where they keep the hot radiator water going through the engine to stop the motor/fluid frezzing in winter. Like a by-pass. But with the Thermoast I have now, drive in nice cool air at 60-80ks and it stay on 1/4 to 1/3 only in traffic with out air con will it run into the middle and only on long periods and hot days will it run slightly over 1/2 way. by that time fan kicks in and it's below 1/2way.
I have replaced it twice first time I got the car (I didn't do it) and a second time when I found the car to be running hot but never got to the red zone. Was only 12 months old but these this go anytime so watch out.
I have seen some cars run no thermostat not a good idea unless it's always in traffic. Mate did it once and it keep on needing the choke it was getting that cold it would not hold it's heat but when given big hits non-stop was quick and cold as a nice VB
